Music around the World: Malika Zarra
Malika Zarra is a Moroccan born singer with Berber roots that has made a name for herself on the Jazz and World Music scenes. After spending her formative years in Paris, she relocated to New York City in 2004 and she’s been blessing the world with her music ever since. She has graced the stage at some notable venues and events, including Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, the London Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Salzburg Jazz Festival and the Timitar Festival. She’s comfortable making music in her native Berber, Arabic and English. I personally like her positive energy and eclectic style. Be sure to check her out on Facebook or her website, and enjoy the below short video of her speaking on her craft.
