Music around the World: Wouter Kellerman
Wouter Kellerman is an accomplished flutist that won a Grammy award in 2015 for his album Winds of Samsara, a collaboration with Indian producer Ricky Kej. He has also won numerous awards in his native South Africa, and had performed and experimented with different sounds from all over the world. He has performed at the FIFA World Cup closing ceremony (2010), for the MIDEM in Cannes, France and has been featured in several South African orchestras. Even though his base is as a classically trained musician, he truly embodies the definition of a crossover artist, his performance with his band in the video below attesting to that fact. The song below is called Wind, and I really enjoyed it. It starts off with a spanish flamenco vibe with hints of arabic ambiance and evolves seamlessly into a chill reggae dub. Talk about crossover.
